Question: Tell me about your first day at Thomas:
Answer: My first day was nerve racking!!! I had prior experience working in a tire warehouse but when I walked into store 6 for the first time, I was amazed at the volume of tractor trailer tires and skidder tires. I knew my back was in for a treat.
Question: Did anything special make an impression on you? If so, what, how and why?
Answer: I was trying to dismount a trailer tire that was on a split ring rim for the first time. I remember swinging the chopping hammer for 30 plus minutes and I was just dripping sweat. This whole time Dale Talbert and Bobby Thomas were watching me and knew what I was doing wrong but they never told me. Finally I went and asked for help. With a smile and a couple of laughs, Bobby showed me the stand used to elevate the tire so it could break down off the rim. One swing and it broke free¦. I was a little angry about the whole situation until they told me the reason why they let me struggle for so long. It was because I would never forget the lesson.
